Former doubles world No. 1 Barbora Strýcová recently added a significant achievement to her sporting career by completing the Prague Marathon. The Czech athlete successfully ran the full distance of 42.195 kilometers, finishing with a time of 3 hours, 18 minutes, and 39 seconds.
Reflecting on this monumental effort, Strýcová shared her thoughts on social media:
“My first marathon!
What can I say – I pushed myself to the absolute limit. This was probably the hardest physical challenge I have ever undertaken in my sports life… But it was completely worth it!
What an incredible experience! It included everything from moments of sheer euphoria to hitting tough crises points around the 25 km and 37 km marks. There were even tears before the start when I heard the beautiful tones of [`Vltava`] playing. I am so grateful to everyone who cheered me on, both from the sidelines and from afar. I truly cannot express how much that support meant to me.
That time of 3:18 – my legs will likely remember that for a long time!”
Strýcová, now aged 39, has been away from competitive tennis since her second career retirement following Wimbledon in 2023. Earlier this year, in 2024, she celebrated the birth of her daughter.
