March is proving to be a month of unexpected outcomes, and not just in the NCAA tournaments.

The first ever season of TGL will reach its climax with a best-of-three finals held at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, this Monday and Tuesday.

In a surprising turn of events, fourth-seeded New York Golf Club defeated top-seeded Los Angeles Golf Club with a score of 6-4 in the semi-finals last week. Simultaneously, No. 3 Atlanta Drive GC caused another upset by overcoming No. 2 The Bay Golf Club 9-3 in their semi-final match.

Golf enthusiasts will be watching as New York Golf Club and Atlanta Drive GC go head-to-head on Monday at 9 p.m. ET and Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET for the SoFi Cup. This event marks the end of the indoor golf league`s inaugural season.

Should the teams tie after the initial two matches, a decisive third match is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET to determine the ultimate champion.

The stakes are high, with a substantial prize pool of $21 million. The victorious team will divide $9 million, while the runners-up will receive $4.5 million.

New York Golf Club aims to redeem themselves after a previous 4-0 defeat by Atlanta Drive GC on January 21, a match that was the first shutout in TGL history.

In their earlier encounter, Atlanta Drive secured two points in the triples (alternate shot) format over nine holes. Justin Thomas then extended their lead to 3-0 by winning a point against Cameron Young in singles on the 10th hole. Billy Horschel sealed the match victory by gaining a fourth point against Matt Fitzpatrick on the 11th hole.

Atlanta Drive GC displayed superior putting skills in their first match, accumulating 65 feet of putts, including a notable 24-footer by Thomas on the fourth hole. In contrast, New York Golf Club only managed 15 feet of putts during the same match.

Matt Fitzpatrick commented after their first game, `We haven`t sunk a putt yet.`

The initial match between these teams was attended by notable figures such as Arthur M. Blank, owner of Atlanta Drive GC and the Atlanta Falcons, and Steve Cohen, owner of New York Mets and NYGC, along with rapper Ja Rule and former NBA champion J.R. Smith.

Atlanta Drive GC by the Numbers: Atlanta Drive GC has demonstrated strength in singles matches throughout this season, leading the league with 23 points in this category. Billy Horschel is the top singles player with eight points, while Justin Thomas (5-0-5) and Lucas Glover (1-0-3) are the only TGL players yet to lose a singles match this season.

Atlanta Drive GC is ranked second in TGL for strokes gained on ball striking and total putts made. They also hold fourth place in driving accuracy at 68.3% and fifth in greens in regulation at 63.3%.

Words from Horschel: `J.T. is an inherently aggressive player, always pushing his limits, and constantly aiming for the perfect shot. His iron play is exceptional, rarely faltering, making it quite formidable when he`s on form. And if his putting gets hot…`

Key to Success: For Atlanta Drive GC to claim the inaugural SoFi Cup, they need to maintain their dominance in singles matches and strategically use their `Hammer.` Each team starts a TGL match with three Hammers, usable once per hole to double the point value. These can be employed in any of the nine triples and six singles matches.

Atlanta Drive GC has accumulated 13 points on holes where a Hammer was used, doubling the count of any other TGL team. They have also used the second most Hammers (12) but have lost the fewest when using them (four).

New York Golf Club by the Numbers: While Atlanta Drive GC excels in singles, New York Golf Club`s strength lies in triples competition. NYGC has earned 17 points in alternate-shot format, placing them second in TGL. They also rank second to The Bay Golf Club with 15 triples holes won.

With Cameron Young (317.6 yards) and Xander Schauffele (328.1 yards) leading, New York Golf Club is second in average driver distance at 317.6 yards. They are also second in average driver ball speed at 181 mph.

Schauffele`s Perspective: `I don’t expect much trash talk from Pat; it’s usually one-sided when we`re together. However, it’s hard to ignore Billy on the course. Billy is the one to watch out for; if he gets too hyped up, he might just dominate.`

Key to Success: New York Golf Club must capitalize on their current momentum. After losing their first two matches, NYGC has since achieved a 3-0-1 record in their last four. During this period, they lead TGL in holes won, points earned, total strokes gained, putting, and putts made.

For New York Golf Club to succeed, securing a few points in the triples early on is crucial to build a buffer before entering the singles matches, where Atlanta Drive GC has been particularly strong this season.
