Former world No. 10 Pablo Carreno Busta had a heated argument with the chair umpire during his second-round match at the Girona Challenger against Iliyan Radulov (6-2, 5-7, 7-6(4)).
At 1-0 in the decisive tie-break in favor of the Bulgarian player, a line judge called a ball out after Radulov`s shot. However, the chair umpire came down from his chair and overruled the decision after inspecting the ball mark.
Following this, the Spaniard approached the umpire and pushed him in the chest. “Why? Why? Why at this moment? Call the supervisor! Call the supervisor (pushes)! Call the supervisor! Call the supervisor! Call the supervisor! You can give me a warning, but call the supervisor! (In Spanish.) Come on! Call him. Because you can`t do that, you can`t do that,” Carreno Busta exclaimed.
The umpire initially refused to call the supervisor according to the rules, after which the tennis player insisted, stating he wanted to change the umpire. Eventually, the supervisor arrived, and after a 10-minute discussion, the point was replayed. It was awarded to Carreno Busta.
It is reported that Pablo Carreno Busta received a warning from the umpire for pushing him.
