Sports News

Four-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1, Naomi Osaka, has commented on her defeat to Italian player Jasmine Paolini in the fourth round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami.

Osaka mentioned that this match was her first of the season against a Top 10 player, and also her first-ever encounter with Paolini on the court.

According to the official WTA website, Osaka stated, “I think just experience [played a role]. I haven`t had many matches against Top players like her recently. The way she plays surprised me because of her height. I didn`t know she could hit like that.”

The match between Osaka and Paolini ended with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in favor of Paolini. Paolini is set to play against the winner of the Coco Gauff (USA) versus Magda Linette (Poland) match in the next round.
