Merab Dvalishvili’s Risky Cliff Dance

Sports News

Merab Dvalishvili, the current UFC bantamweight champion, is known not only for his fighting skills but also for his unique and sometimes risky personality.

After his significant victory over Sean O’Malley at UFC 306 last September, Dvalishvili solidified his position as a major figure in the UFC.

His popularity further exploded when he defeated Umar Nurmagomedov earlier this year, successfully defending his title despite being the underdog.

Following this win, Merab `The Machine` Dvalishvili broke Georges St-Pierre`s record for the most takedowns in UFC history, earning him the nickname `The King` from St-Pierre himself.

Dvalishvili Almost Falls Off Cliff While Dancing

The Georgian fighter is currently enjoying downtime in Monaco.

Besides his dominant fighting style, `The Machine` is also known for taking extreme risks outside the octagon.

Previously, a video circulated of Dvalishvili diving headfirst into frozen water, resulting in a head injury.

During his Monaco trip, the 34-year-old decided to showcase traditional Georgian dance moves, but he dangerously chose to do so at the edge of a cliff.

A near-disaster occurred when Dvalishvili lost his balance after a 360-degree spin and started sliding towards the cliff`s edge.

After stumbling on loose stones, the bantamweight champion regained his footing, appearing shaken by the close call and clutching his leg in pain.

Dvalishvili`s past antics have caused trouble with UFC president Dana White, who called him `dumb` after he tried to remove eyebrow stitches with garden shears.

UFC Fighters Urge Dvalishvili to ‘Be Careful’ After Cliff Incident

Reacting to the cliffside video, fellow UFC fighter Johnny Walker commented: “Be careful champ, we need you to defend your belt.”

Karolina Kowalkiewicz also commented: “OMG. Merab please focus on fighting and give up dancing because you will hurt yourself.”

Dana White recently suggested Dvalishvili`s next title defense might be a rematch against Sean O’Malley.

Dvalishvili and O’Malley recently met in a hot tub, discussing their potential rematch, with the date still to be determined.
