World No. 4 tennis player Iga Swiatek commented on the recent scandal affecting the Polish national football team. Striker Robert Lewandowski reportedly refused to play for the national squad, citing a `loss of trust` in coach Michał Probierz after being removed as captain. Probierz subsequently resigned from his position.
Swiatek stated, “I am aware of the situation concerning the national team, but I don`t follow it closely enough to become emotional about it. I hope they can create an atmosphere where playing for the national team is comfortable for everyone.”
“I have enormous respect for Robert. He has achieved incredible things for Polish sport and instilled so much confidence in others, showing they are capable of becoming world-class stars! I believe he will continue to inspire and represent the national team, although I do understand he is in the latter part of his career, which sometimes requires prioritizing health and making choices,” she added.
“Football is so incredibly popular here that sometimes I honestly don`t know what`s a rumor and what`s the actual truth. But I trust that everything will eventually be resolved,” Swiatek concluded.
