– Did you expect that your lead in the rankings would remain almost unchanged despite your absence?
– The answer is the same as before: I cannot control how others play, even if I were playing. In the end, it`s just points. We agree that the ranking is important, but it`s a slightly different point. A new generation is coming, Djokovic continues to reach finals or win tournaments, but I can`t control anything.
– Zverev and Alcaraz had a great opportunity when you stopped, but it seemed like they felt your pressure from the outside…
– Matches are never taken for granted, even if you play against number 100 or 150 in the world, they are all intense if you are not 100%. Maybe they are going through difficult times off the court, we cannot know. There are many things that can bother you when you go out on the court, maybe it`s pressure or being number one, or maybe family problems. Of course, everything can change very quickly, now there is a change of surface from Monte Carlo and clay, where Alcaraz will be the favorite.
