Fans Mock Deiveson Figueiredo`s Cone-Dodging Drill

Deiveson Figueiredo is known for his exciting fighting style in the lighter weight divisions.

The former UFC flyweight champion possesses significant knockout power and often aggressively pursues opponents to land decisive strikes.

However, this style can leave him vulnerable to counter-attacks if he fails to evade incoming strikes, as Figueiredo tends to keep his hands low, relying on his reflexes for defense.

In a recent Instagram video, Figueiredo, nicknamed `Deus Da Guerra,` demonstrated a drill where he moved laterally while dodging cones thrown at his head from off-camera with impressive accuracy.

This training method is certainly unconventional but understandable for a fighter who depends on sharp vision and quick reactions in striking exchanges.

However, in the initial moments of the video, Figueiredo is hit on the head by a cone, successfully dodges two, and then gets struck in the face by the fourth.

“10-9 Yellow disk,” one fan commented on X after the video was shared.

“What is my goat doing?” another fan questioned, while numerous responses referenced the movie `Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story,` where characters trained by dodging wrenches.

“If he can dodge a wrench he can dodge a ball,” a fan quoted from the movie.

Fans Express Concern Over Figueiredo`s Training Focus

While Deiveson Figueiredo is seemingly working on his agility and reactions, many fans voiced concerns about his preparation for his upcoming fight on May 3rd.

Cory Sandhagen, his opponent, is also a highly skilled striker in the bantamweight division but is also known to incorporate grappling into his fights.

Figueiredo has not historically been dominated in grappling exchanges, but fans seem more worried about this aspect of the fight than his striking defense.

Several comments suggested that the former flyweight champion might be prioritizing the wrong areas in his training camp before heading to Iowa.

“All this to get held down for 5 rounds. Go back down to 125 bro,” one fan remarked, implying concern about grappling.
