Furthermore, the talented Norwegian player made history by becoming only the second tennis player ever to win his inaugural Masters 1000 level title at the prestigious Madrid Open. The only other player to achieve this specific milestone was Argentine star David Nalbandian, who did so in 2007.
Adding another significant achievement to his career, Ruud is also the first Norwegian tennis player ever to lift a trophy at the Masters 1000 level, marking a historic moment for Norwegian tennis.
