Brandon Moreno Expected to Dethrone Alexandre Pantoja for Third World Title

Sports News

Brandon Moreno’s fellow flyweight contender Edgar Chairez believes he will defy the odds and win against Alexandre Pantoja for the fourth time.

The two-time champion is preparing to face Steve Erceg in the main event of UFC Mexico City on Saturday night. Meanwhile, Chairez is facing CJ Vergara on the undercard.

And the Mexican star reckons that Pantoja’s reign will be ended by Moreno for a historic third title win, despite Moreno losing to the Brazilian three times already.

Edgar Chairez Predicts Brandon Moreno Will Dethrone Alexandre Pantoja in Fourth Fight

Recently, it seems like nobody can take the flyweight world title from Alexandre Pantoja. Erceg got a title shot despite being ranked number eight, and the UFC even considered Kai Asakura from Rizin for UFC 310.

However, Edgar Chairez told Bloody Elbow that he believes Brandon Moreno will become an undeniable contender and take the belt. Pantoja is expected to face Kai Kara-France next, with Manel Kape also a top challenger.

“Brandon Moreno is the best fighter in the world,” Chairez said in English. “Yes, he will be champion again this year.

“Pantoja is still the best flyweight, and he will beat Kara France. But Brandon will beat Pantoja this year for sure. The other fight is very close, but I say bring Brandon!”

Edgar Chairez Would Never Fight Brandon Moreno for World Title

Regarding his own title interests, Chairez knows he would never fight Moreno, no matter the money. They are close friends, and he even bought tickets to watch Moreno in the main event on Saturday night.

“I will be participating and then I have bought my tickets so I can re-enter the arena and support these fighters and my friend Brandon Moreno who is going to be participating,” he explained. “Being there to support the sport is humbling.

“I would never fight him, it’s probably not worth it. Not even the most amount of money would make me want to fight somebody who has been a supporter of my work and who motivates me.”
