Betting Favorites and Odds at the U.S. Open (After Round 3)

Golf News

When the U.S. Open began on Thursday at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, Scottie Scheffler, fresh from his PGA Championship victory, was the favorite to win his second consecutive major. After the first round, J.J. Spaun held the lead, but 2021 champion Jon Rahm was the favorite after a 1-under 69 put him tied for sixth on the leaderboard.

Since then, Sam Burns (+180) has taken both the lead and favored position, finishing the third round at -4 after rounds of 65 on Friday and 69 on Sunday. He is one stroke ahead of Adam Scott (+325) and Spaun (+400), and three strokes ahead of Viktor Hovland (+550). No other golfer is under par or has odds better than 28-1 to win from behind.
