Aryna Sabalenka Reaches 10,000 WTA Ranking Points Milestone

Sports News

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus has surpassed the 10,000 ranking points mark. She increased her score to 10,191 points at the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami, USA. This achievement comes after her dominant semi-final victory over Italian player Jasmine Paolini with a score of 6-2, 6-2.

This accomplishment makes Sabalenka only the eighth tennis player since 2009, when the modern ranking system was introduced, to reach the 10,000-point milestone. Previously, this feat has been achieved by Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka, Dinara Safina, Caroline Wozniacki, Ashleigh Barty, and Iga Swiatek.

In the final, 26-year-old Sabalenka will compete for the title against the winner of the match between American Jessica Pegula and Alexandra Eala from the Philippines. Their match is scheduled for the night of March 27th-28th.
