The world`s top-ranked player, Aryna Sabalenka, and world No. 4, Jessica Pegula, are set to face each other for the third time in the past year in the final of a significant North American tournament.
This Friday, both tennis stars advanced to the championship match in Miami. Previously in 2024, they vied for titles in Cincinnati and at the US Open, with Sabalenka emerging victorious in both instances.
Notably, at least one of these two athletes has reached the final in every major North American tournament since Miami 2023, where Danielle Collins defeated Elena Rybakina. Last season in Toronto, Pegula defeated Amanda Anisimova, and earlier this year in Indian Wells, Sabalenka was defeated by Mirra Andreeva.
Jessica Pegula commented on the upcoming final against Sabalenka: “If I can play at a high level, I will have opportunities. I am focused on applying the lessons learned from our recent matches.”
