Ovechkin is now just six goals away from tying Gretzky`s record of 894 goals.
As Ovechkin approaches this historic milestone, hockey fans are wondering if he will surpass the record before the end of the regular season. According to statistical projections, there is a 73% chance Ovechkin will break the record this season.
These projections estimate that Ovechkin is most likely to break the record between April 14th and 17th. Specifically, there`s approximately a 15% chance he could break it on April 12th against the Columbus Blue Jackets, around 14% on April 13th also versus the Blue Jackets, and about 14% on April 15th against the New York Islanders.
Ovechkin has been in good scoring form recently, netting three goals in his last five games. He has accumulated six goals in total during March.
This season, Ovechkin has recorded 36 goals and 24 assists and is aiming to reach the 40-goal mark for the third time in the past four seasons.
